At the beginning September 2005 Steve, Pesky the horses and myself all moved
into Three Lows Farm in Staffordshire. To the left is a photo of the
house taken from the bottom of the drive.
The house is positioned about 100ft/ 300 meters above see level and has about 10.01 acres of grounds. It was purchased in a non habitable state in mid July and work was undertaken so it would be habitable in September. Work is currently still in progress to finish the interior. This was Steve's and my first venture into land ownership, though not house ownership so we have yet to invest in tractors and the like. It has taken a while to get used to the idea that the horses are just in the back garden after 9 years of keeping horses in livery yards! But it sure saves on time.

The horses winter accommodation is a
solid stone former cow shed. To prepare this for there use I had to
remove three steel reinforced concrete partitions, cover the glass in the
windows with perspex, have electricity and fluorescent lighting installed
and fill the slurry drainage channel.
Fortunately there is a large concrete apron with a stone wall out the front so even when they are shut in at night they still have a reasonable amount of space to roam around in. We plan to get some in lamb ewes in the near future to act as additional grass mowers and to provide us with food in the longer term.

Not really a lot you can say about a picture of grass but here goes. The land is divided up into three fields two of about 4 acres and one of about 1 acre. the two large fields are to the right of the house as you look up the drive, adjacent to one another and dry stone walled. The third field is situated some 15 feet / 3meters above the other two fields, behind the house and currently has no access from our land. We intend to put a gated access to this field from the road and possibly also up the bank from the parking area next year. Ideally I would like to turn this into an all weather arena but time and money will tell what the future holds for this idea.
